World Cup 2026 Qualifiers: Spain Thrash Turkey, Netherlands and Germany Secure Wins

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spain and Belgium dominated their latest fixtures in the 2026 World Cup European Qualifiers, each notching emphatic 6-0 victories early Monday, September 8, 2025. Meanwhile, the Netherlands, Germany, and Poland also secured important wins with three goals apiece.

Spain Crushes Turkey 6-0

La Roja dismantled Turkey in Group E with a commanding 6-0 scoreline at Torku Arena, Konya. Pedri struck twice, Mikel Merino bagged a hat-trick, and Ferran Torres added another to seal the win.

The victory kept Spain firmly atop Group E with six points from two matches, while Turkey slipped to third with three points. Statistically, Spain controlled the game with 51 percent possession and 21 shots, 12 of them on target.

Pedri opened the scoring in the sixth minute after a pass from Nico Williams. Merino then netted two goals before halftime, both assisted by Mikel Oyarzabal. In the second half, Ferran Torres and Merino struck within four minutes, stretching the lead to 5-0. Pedri rounded off the rout in the 62nd minute. Turkey’s attempts to respond were consistently denied by goalkeeper Unai Simón.

Belgium Thrash Kazakhstan

Belgium delivered an identical scoreline in Group J, overwhelming Kazakhstan 6-0 at Lotto Park, Anderlecht. Kevin De Bruyne and Jeremy Doku each scored twice, with Nicolas Raskin and Thomas Meunier adding the rest.

The Red Devils climbed to second in the group with 10 points from four matches, while Kazakhstan remained in fourth with no points from five outings.

Germany Back on Track

After a disappointing start, Germany returned to form with a 3-1 victory over Northern Ireland in Group A at RheinEnergie Stadium, Cologne. Goals came from Serge Gnabry, Nadiem Amiri, and Florian Wirtz, while Isaac Price briefly equalized for the visitors.

It was Germany’s first win of the campaign following their opening defeat to Slovakia, lifting them to third place with three points from two matches. Northern Ireland sit in second, also with three points. Germany dominated possession at 70 percent and registered 10 shots, six on target.

Netherlands Edge Lithuania

Memphis Depay was the hero in Kaunas, scoring twice to guide the Netherlands to a 3-2 win over Lithuania in Group G. The Dutch had led 2-0 through Depay and Quinten Timber before Lithuania leveled via Gvidas Gineitis and Edvinas Girdvainis. Depay’s second sealed the points.

The Netherlands lead Group G with 10 points from four matches, while Lithuania sit fourth with three points. The Dutch enjoyed 69 percent possession and 14 shots, seven on target.

Poland Beat Finland

Poland also shone in Group G, defeating Finland 3-1 in Chorzów. Matty Cash, Robert Lewandowski, and Jakub Kaminski found the net, with Benjamin Källman replying for Finland.

Poland remain second in the group with 10 points from five matches, three points clear of third-placed Finland.
