TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Hutama Marga Waskita (Hamawas) is implementing a 20% toll road rate discount on two of the furthest sections of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) namely Pangkalanbrandan-Sinaksak and Kisaran-Sinaksak. The toll rate discount is applicable during the Christmas and New Year 2026 holiday period.
"The hope is that this policy can alleviate traffic congestion during the peak holiday season, preventing gridlock at certain points," said the President Director of Hamawas, Dindin Solakhuddin, in a written statement on Monday, December 15, 2025.
The discount is valid from 22nd December at 00:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time) until 23rd December at 24:00 WIB, and on 31st December at 00:00 WIB. This policy is aimed at optimizing the smooth flow of traffic during the Christmas and New Year 2026 holidays and minimizing travel costs for the public announced by the Deputy Minister of Public Works, Diana Kusumastuti, during a joint working meeting with Commission 5 of the DPR in Jakarta on December 8.
With the approval of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), the toll rate discount applies to all continuous travel groups 1-5 from the Pangkalanbrandan Toll Gate (GT) to the Sinaksak GT and vice versa, as well as road users traveling from the Kisaran GT to the Sinaksak GT and vice versa.

According to Dindin, the toll rate reduction promotes an increase in tourist travel, especially to the Lake Toba Super Priority Tourism Destination (DPSP). This potential increase could drive economic growth in the surrounding areas.
"Many people take advantage of the long year-end holiday for tourism, as seen from the increased traffic volume on the Kutepat toll road to various tourist destinations, including the Lake Toba area. Moreover, the functional opening of the Sinaksak-Simpangpanei toll road has further facilitated and accelerated the community's mobility to various tourist destinations in Simalungun and Toba Regencies," he said.
