TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI AD) General Agus Subiyanto stated that the TNI has deployed 35,477 personnel for flood relief in Sumatra, specifically in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The total personnel consists of three branches of the TNI.

The Army has deployed 28,319 personnel, including helicopter crews belonging to the TNI AD. Meanwhile, the Navy has deployed 4,589 individuals across the three provinces, including crews of the Indonesian warships or KRI. Additionally, the Air Force has dispatched 2,569 personnel, including aircraft crews.

"Additionally, there are 321 health task force personnel spread across several areas," Agus said during a full cabinet meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, December 15, 2025.

Agus mentioned that the TNI has also added four battalions comprising three engineering battalions and one territorial development battalion. "These battalions will assist in the construction of Bailey bridges, which are currently being built," he stated.

These battalions will also clear mud and wooden debris, as well as construct temporary and permanent shelters. They will also assist other ministries and institutions such as the Ministry of Public Works, PT PLN, and PT Pertamina.

In addition to personnel, primary weapon systems, or alutsista, are also being utilized. There are 82 alutsista consisting of 26 aircraft of various types. Among these aircraft are one unit of the TNI AU's Airbus A400, six Hercules units, two CN295 units, seven Casa 212 units, and 10 units from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

Aside from fixed-wing aircraft, the TNI has also deployed 36 helicopter units, including seven Caracal units, three Super Puma units, three Bell 412 units, two MI-17 units, and five Panther units. The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has also deployed two Dauphin units, while the BNPB and Ministry of Defense each have deployed two and three units of Dauphin, respectively.

"Additionally, there are 20 KRI units currently providing support," Agus said while reporting the progress to President Prabowo Subianto.

Agus revealed that as of December 15, 2025, the TNI is still conducting logistic support operations to disaster areas, especially those inaccessible by land. Up to Monday, Agus said, Hercules conducted an airdrop of 36 aid bundles to Blangkejeren City, Aceh Province.
