TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - US President Donald Trump on Sunday claimed that Israel has accepted his ceasefire proposal and called on the Palestinian group Hamas to agree to the terms.

Everyone wants the Hostages HOME. Everyone wants this War to end! The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, as quoted by Anadolu.

Trump warned Hamas of “consequences” if it refuses the offer. “I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one!” he said.

Speaking separately to reporters on his return flight to Washington from New York, Trump said, “I think we’re going to have a deal on Gaza very soon,” without elaborating further. He added that he believes all hostages will be returned, “alive or dead.”

On Saturday, Israel’s N12 News reported that Trump had submitted a new ceasefire plan to Hamas.

According to the report, Hamas would release the remaining 48 hostages on the first day of the ceasefire in exchange for thousands of Palestinian prisoners held in Israel. The deal would also include negotiations on ending the war during the truce period.

Hamas confirmed in a statement, cited by NBC News, that it had received proposals through US mediators and was discussing them with intermediaries.

The group reiterated its readiness to negotiate the release of all hostages in return for “a clear announcement of the end of the war” and a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

The reported acceptance by Israel has not been publicly confirmed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government. Egypt and Qatar have been mediating indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas, with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff involved in advancing the Israeli initiative.

Hamas had earlier agreed on Aug. 18 to a 60-day ceasefire proposal, but Israel has yet to respond.

Trump’s ultimatum comes amid mounting international pressure to halt the war.

According to Gaza’s health authorities, more than 64,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli military strikes since October 2023, while much of the enclave faces famine conditions.

In November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former defense chief Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
