1. Indonesian Gov't to Provide Rp5-15 Million Aid for Protest Victims

Indonesian government will provide financial assistance of Rp15 million for the families of deceased victims and Rp5 million for seriously injured victims of recent demonstrations, according to Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf

The aid will be distributed through the adaptive social assistance (bansos) program.

“Through adaptive social assistance, Rp15 million for the deceased and Rp5 million for the seriously injured,” said Gus Ipul, Saifullah’s nickname, at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Thursday, September 4, 2025.

2. Police in Indonesia Claim to Step Up Cyber Surveillance Ahead of Week-Long Protests

Indonesia's National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) claimed to have been conducting cyber patrols since August 23, 2025, as a preventive measure to prevent riots in Jakarta and other areas following plans for demonstrations in front of the House of Representatives (DPR).

"Cyber patrols have been conducting activities since the 23rd. We have been monitoring the tools on social media to see if they would have an offline impact. Therefore, this has become a preemptive and preventive activity that we have carried out," said the Director of Cyber Crime at the National Police Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri), Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, at the Bareskrim Polri building on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

The week-long wave of demonstrations took place in Jakarta and then spread to many regions from August 25 to August 31, 2025.

3. BEM SI Says Uncertain on Friday Protest as Palace Pledges to Forward Demands to Prabowo

The media coordinator of the All-Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM SI) Kerakyatan, Pasha Fazillah Afap, said the student alliance is undecided on whether they will stage a protest today, Friday, September 5, 2025. Today is the deadline for the '17+8 People's Demands' that has taken the central point of the movement.

He admitted that the State Secretary Minister, Prasetyo Hadi, instructed them to wait for the demands to be submitted to President Prabowo Subianto.
