Indonesia Condemns Mass Shooting at Australia's Bondi Beach

TEMPO.CO, JakartaIndonesia strongly condemns the mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, on Sunday, which resulted in casualties and injuries.

This was conveyed by Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its official social media account, @Kemlu_RI on X on Monday, December 15, 2025, as reported by Antara.

The Foreign Ministry also stated that Indonesia extends heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims and prays for the swift recovery of the injured.

"Indonesia stands in solidarity with the Government and the people of Australia during this difficult time," stated the Foreign Ministry.

Previously, a shooting occurred at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, resulting in 16 deaths and 40 others injured.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Sydney has urged Indonesian citizens to remain vigilant following the shooting at Bondi Beach.

"KJRI Sydney advises Indonesian citizens in the New South Wales area to remain vigilant, avoid the location of the incident, and follow the directions of the Australian authorities," said the written statement from the Foreign Ministry.

The Foreign Ministry and KJRI Sydney stated that they will continue to closely monitor the situation and coordinate with local authorities to stay informed.

Meanwhile, the New South Wales Police (NSW) reported that the suspected perpetrators of the shooting were a father and son.

According to the New South Wales Police, the suspected perpetrators are two men aged 50 and 24, respectively.

"The 50-year-old man has died, while the 24-year-old man is currently being treated in hospital," said New South Wales Police Commissioner Mel Lanyon, adding that based on the police investigation, only two individuals were involved in the shooting incident.
