TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto plans to visit disaster-affected locations in Sumatra at least once a week. The Head of State wants to monitor the developments in disaster management. "I plan to visit the area at least once a week to monitor the progress," he said during a full Cabinet meeting at the State Palace in Central Jakarta, on Monday, December 15, 2025.
Prabowo mentioned that he has already visited Aceh 3 times, North Sumatra 2 times, and West Sumatra 1 time. Prabowo plans to visit West Sumatra again.
Prabowo stated that these disaster conditions must be faced with full vigilance. Changes in the weather continue to affect the community's living environment. "These disaster conditions are something we must face with full vigilance. Because indeed, weather changes affect our living environment and have become a global issue," Prabowo said.
The former Minister of Defense also said that this situation should make the government even stronger and more vigilant. "So it makes us even stronger, more resilient, and more vigilant," he said.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the number of flood-related casualties in Sumatra has reached 1,016 as of Sunday, December 14, 2025. The Head of Data Information and Disaster Information Center of BNPB, Abdul Muhari, said This number has increased from the previous data of 1,006 people on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
Specifically, the number of deaths in Aceh reached 424, 349 in North Sumatra, and 243 in West Sumatra. Over the past week, the death toll has increased by 66 people.
"In the last week, the number of deaths found by joint teams has increased by 66 people. 33 victims in Aceh, 19 in North Sumatra, and 14 in West Sumatra," said Abdul.
Meanwhile, the number of missing persons as of Sunday was 212. This number has decreased from 217 on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Over the past week, the number of missing persons has decreased by 58 people.
Abdul mentioned that the number of refugees at the disaster sites is decreasing. As of Sunday, December 14, 2025, there were 624,670 refugees, a decrease from 654,542 on Saturday, December 13, 2025. The number of refugees has decreased by 356,297 people compared to the data from December 7-8, 2025.
