TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The wave of protests in front of the House of Reprsentatives (DPR) building in Senayan, Jakarta, continued into Wednesday afternoon, September 3, 2025. After the Indonesian Women’s Alliance (API) dispersed around 01:30 PM, students from the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian National Student Movement (DPP GMNI) took over the protest stage.

Fewer than 300 GMNI students arrived at 01:54 PM in a convoy of light-blue public minivans, following a command car that led the procession toward the DPR’s main gate.

Once they disembarked, the group unfurled a banner reading “Geruduk Gedung DPR” (“Storm the DPR Building”) and pasted their demands onto the iron fence. Some participants held posters declaring “Runtuhkan Ketidakadilan” (“Tear Down Injustice”), while others waved the red-and-white-themed GMNI attributes.

From atop the command vehicle, GMNI orators took turns shouting through loudspeakers, rallying the crowd with chants of “Long live students! Long live the people of Indonesia!”

On the other side of the gate, another command vehicle belonging to the Indonesian Muslim Student Action Union (KAMMI) was parked, with its members waiting for their turn to stage a protest after GMNI concluded their speeches.

Earlier that morning, the same location had hosted a demonstration by the Indonesian Women’s Alliance under the banner “Women Against State Violence.” Beginning at 10:00 AM, they addressed both Parliament and President Prabowo Subianto, demanding an end to all forms of state violence against the people.

The women’s rally, which lasted until around 12:30 PM, featured posters condemning arbitrary actions by the authorities and chants of resistance. In front of the DPR’s gates, activists also displayed portraits of protest victims, including Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi driver who was struck and killed by a security vehicle.
