TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metro Police searched the personal residence of Lokataru Foundation Director Delpedro Marhaen, after the activist was named a suspect for allegedly inciting anarchic actions during protests.
Delpedro's lawyer, Daniel Winarta, said the police raided the residence on Thursday, September 4, 2025. "Around 7-8 police officers entered Delpedro's apartment unit and forcefully conducted the search," Daniel told Tempo on Friday, September 5, 2025.
Daniel mentioned that Delpedro's family refused the search and requested the police to wait for the arrival of Delpedro's legal team. But the police forcefully inspected the apartment unit.
The search lasted from 6:30 p.m. to around 8:30 p.m. During the first hour, the search was carried out without the presence of the local community leader. "So there was a violation of procedure," said Daniel.
During the search, the police examined books belonging to Delpedro, and seized three of them. "Several other items were also confiscated," Daniel added.
On the same day, the Jakarta Metro Police also searched the Lokataru Foundation office in Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta.
The Pedeo Project social media account recorded and uploaded the raid on Instagram. They stated that the police confiscated several items from the Lokataru office. "Police officers seized several items, including books and research discussion banners from the Lokataru Foundation," @pedeoproject wrote.
Lokataru Foundation spokesperson Fian Alaydrus confirmed the search. "This is currently ongoing. We're gathering the data," said Fian when contacted on Thursday afternoon, September 4, 2025.
The Jakarta Metro Police also confirmed the search at the Lokataru Foundation office. "The search was conducted for the purpose of the investigation," said Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head, Grand Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi.
Previously, the police forcibly arrested Delpedro from his home on Monday night, September 1, 2025, subsequently naming him a suspect for incitement.
