1. Floods Return to Bali, Claiming One Life After Heavy Rain

Several areas in southern Bali, Indonesia, were reported to be hit by a wide and severe flood in the early hours of Sunday, December 14, 2025. The flood occurred after heavy rains once again engulfed Bali.

Several videos show the flooding on Sunset Road, Denpasar. The flood, amidst the continuing rain, can be seen in a video posted on Sunday morning. Another video captured a large flood engulfing Kerobokan, Badung, in the early hours.

Data from the Denpasar Meteorology and Climatology Agency revealed that the rainfall in the tourist island on Saturday, December 13, 2025, was classified as very heavy (100-150 mm per day). The measurement by the Sanglah Geophysics Station in Denpasar recorded 109.8 mm.

Several other areas experienced moderate intensity rain, such as the National Climatology Station, on the same day. Some reported light rain.

2. SEA Games 2025: Vietnam, Thailand Reach Football Semis

Four men's football teams will compete in the semifinal matches of the SEA Games 2025 at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Monday, December 15, 2025. Vietnam will play against the Philippines, and the host team Thailand will meet Malaysia.

The Indonesian U-23 national team, as the defending champion, failed to advance to the final four after finishing second in Group C, losing 0-1 to the Philippines and winning 3-1 against Myanmar. Their attempt to reach the semifinal as the best second-placed team also fell short after losing out to Malaysia.

Malaysia, who won 4-1 against Laos and lost 0-2 to Vietnam in Group C, had a better goal difference than Indonesia. Despite both teams having three points and a +1 goal difference, Malaysia's four goals put them at the top of the list of group runners-up.

The Philippines, topping Group C after defeating Myanmar 2-0 and Indonesia 1-0, will challenge Vietnam, the winner of Group B. Meanwhile, Malaysia will face Thailand, the winner of Group A, who defeated Timor Leste 6-1 and Singapore 3-0.

3. Indonesian Diaspora Says Overseas Aid for Sumatra Disaster Is Being Taxed

Members of the Indonesian diaspora in Singapore have voiced frustration over what they describe as restrictive rules on delivering aid to victims of the devastating Sumatra floods.

One diaspora member, Fika, said humanitarian assistance sent from abroad is treated as taxable imported goods unless the government declares the disaster a national emergency.

The concern was raised in a post on her Instagram account, @ffawzia07. “If donations from the diaspora are sent while the Sumatra floods have not been declared a national disaster, the aid will be taxed,” she wrote on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
