TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The media coordinator of the All-Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM SI) Kerakyatan, Pasha Fazillah Afap, said the student alliance is undecided on whether they will stage a protest today, Friday, September 5, 2025. Today is the deadline for the '17+8 People's Demands' that has taken the central point of the movement.
He admitted that the State Secretary Minister, Prasetyo Hadi, instructed them to wait for the demands to be submitted to President Prabowo Subianto.
"The State Secretary Minister will provide further information to us later," he said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, September 4, 2025.
He mentioned that BEM SI Kerakyatan will also assess the situation in Jakarta, adding that they will stage a protest if the situation is conducive. Otherwise, they will postpone it.
Pasha, along with several student organizations, delivered several demands to Minister Prasetyo Hadi and the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, on Thursday night, September 4, 2025.
Pasha urged Prabowo to promptly form an investigation team for alleged treason during demonstrations in Jakarta and various regions. BEM SI Kerakyatan also requested the immediate approval of the Asset Forfeiture Bill.
Meanwhile, the Chair of BEM UPNVJ, Kaleb Otniel Aritonang, urged the government to fulfill the demands of the '17+8 People's Demands,' which summarizes various popular demands on social media. One of the demands is for the House of Representatives to freeze their allowance hike and cancel plans for new benefits.
