TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A number of countries, including Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, have issued travel warnings against Indonesia following widespread protests across the country. The travel advisories extend to Indonesia's top destination, Bali.

Responding to this development, I Wayan Sumarajaya, the head of the Bali Tourism Office, maintained that the tourism situation on the island remains conducive despite unrest at the Bali Police Headquarters and the Bali Regional House of Representatives on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

“Bali remains safe and conducive for all tourists despite the demonstrations at the Bali Police Headquarters and in the central area of Denpasar,” said Wayan Sumarajaya in Denpasar on Monday, September 1, 2025.

Sumarajaya ensured Bali's safety after observing that tourist destinations are running as normal following protests that have erupted across many regions in Indonesia.

“We highly respect countries that advise their citizens against traveling to a nation facing security issues, but I hope this will not last long,” he said.

The Work of Tourism Industry Players

According to him, this situation is inseparable from the good work of tourism industry players such as hotels, transportation, tourist attractions, and the community who understand the importance of maintaining the comfort and safety of Bali as a tourist destination.

"Everyone understands that the comfort and safety of Bali is pivotal, so activities held to convey the people's aspirations to the government do not interfere with the tourism aspects," he said.

The safety of Bali, he said, is also attributed to the cooperation between security forces and all elements of tourism and the government.

Bali remains the main tourist magnet in Indonesia, contributing to most foreign arrivals in the country.  According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) announced on September 1, 2025, from January to July , the total number of foreign tourist visits to Bali reached 3.98 million, up 12.46 million compared to the same period last year.
