TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka met the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025. The encounter was shared in a video posted on the Instagram account of the Vice President's Secretariat @setwapres RI.
In the video, Gibran, accompanied by his wife Selvi Ananda, visited the residence of the chair of the Democratic Party's high council. Gibran was dressed in a predominantly brown batik.
The Vice President was then welcomed by SBY, who was wearing a purple-colored batik outfit. Gibran was seen shaking hands and kissing SBY's hand.
In the post caption, Gibran's visit to SBY's residence was to personally convey birthday wishes to the 6th President. Gibran prayed for SBY's health and longevity.
"As well as having a casual conversation and listening to valuable advice from the former President," as written in the @setwapres.ri post caption, quoted on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025.
In a separate statement, SBY's eldest son, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, mentioned that Gibran and his father discussed national issues. The purpose, he stated, was to make Indonesia better, particularly in terms of the country's economic conditions.
"Then to oversee the government's development under President Prabowo Subianto's command," said the Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs in the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025.
