TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Qatar's airspace remains open for air travel despite recent Israeli airstrikes in Doha on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Qatar Airways has confirmed that its flight operations are secure following the blasts in the nation's capital.
In a statement released on its official website and social media channels, the airline affirmed its services were not disrupted. As cited by Gulf News on Tuesday evening, the airline stated, "The recent unfortunate events in Doha have not impacted Qatar Airways operations and there have been no disruptions as a result."
Earlier reports that day noted multiple explosions heard in Doha’s Katara District, with smoke visible from the area. Although this district is not a primary aviation or energy infrastructure hub, the event raised concerns about potential regional instability.
Despite these concerns, flights to and from Hamad International Airport in Doha continue to operate on schedule. Gulf News also reported that there were no associated delays or cancellations reported as of last night.
Is it Safe to Travel to Qatar?
Hamad International Airport in Doha serves as a vital global transit hub. While the airport has reportedly been unaffected, flight tracking data shows several airlines are avoiding airspace over Iraq, Iran, and Israel.
According to a report by ABC on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, major carriers, including Emirates, Singapore Airlines, British Airways, and Air France, are closely monitoring the evolving situation.
Aviation expert Justin Wastnage, a senior industry researcher at the Griffith University Tourism Institute in Australia, noted that the attacks in Qatar were highly targeted and had no direct impact on commercial flights.
"That strike by Israel on Qatar was very targeted, very pinpoint accuracy. They hit residential buildings where they believed Hamas leadership were located," Wastnage said, as quoted by ABC.
However, he acknowledged the significant impact these attacks could have on the tourism sector. "Some of the resorts in Qatar that are starting to emerge as stopover destinations are quite close to where the strike took place," he explained. He added that while flights themselves are safe, the incident may cause some travelers to feel anxious about visiting Qatar.
