TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has offered his condolences to the victims of recent floods that hit several areas in Bali and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This statement was conveyed by the Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, in a written release on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
"President Prabowo Subianto expressed condolences for the flood disaster that struck several areas in the provinces of Bali and Nusa Tenggara Timur," Teddy said.
According to Teddy, Prabowo responded immediately to the disaster and instructed the head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) and other relevant agencies to quickly respond to the disaster. Prabowo also stressed the importance of ensuring that aid is distributed swiftly and accurately to those who need it most.
"The Head of State also emphasized the importance of distributing aid quickly and accurately targeted," Teddy added.
Emergency Response and Aid Distribution
Teddy stated that the head of BNPB, Lieutenant General Suharyanto, immediately traveled to Bali to lead emergency response efforts. The BNPB's on-site presence is expected to ensure that search and rescue operations and the provision of basic necessities for affected residents are carried out effectively.
Teddy also explained that BNPB had already distributed initial aid to the affected areas. This assistance included rubber boats, engines, refugee tents, basic food packages, mattresses, blankets, and water pumps, in addition to financial and other support tailored to the specific needs on the ground.
Disaster Impact
Heavy rain caused flooding in several parts of Bali on Tuesday night, September 9. One of the affected areas was Jembrana Regency, where the BNPB reported that a major flood had caused two deaths.
According to data from Wednesday afternoon, September 10, a total of 200 people from 103 families were affected by the flood in this region.
Meanwhile, in NTT, the BNPB reported that a flash flood in Nagekeo Regency on Monday afternoon, September 8, resulted in three deaths, two injuries, and four people still missing.
