TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto requested that a portion of the state loss replacement funds from corruption, totaling Rp13 trillion, be allocated to the Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP) scholarships.
These trillions of rupiah stem from the handover of confiscated evidence in the corruption case involving the provision of export facilities for crude palm oil (CPO) and its derivatives, which was transferred by the Attorney General's Office (AGO).
"Maybe the Rp13 trillion donated or seized by the Attorney General today and handed over to the Minister of Finance, maybe some of it can be put into LPDP for the future," President Prabowo said during the opening of the Cabinet Plenary Session at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday, October 20, 2025.
Prabowo made this suggestion after presenting national education programs, which included the development of people's schools or "Sekolah Rakyat," the prestigious "Garuda high school," as well as the expansion of scholarships and the addition of medical faculties.
According to the President, the LPDP scholarship fund needs to be strengthened so that Indonesia can produce more outstanding and globally competitive generations. To accelerate educational progress compared to other countries, the Head of State introduced the Garuda school program.
Prabowo also emphasized the importance of finding talented children from all corners of the country, not just from the upper-middle class.
The President noted that many children from humble families possess exceptional intelligence and deserve the opportunity to study with full scholarships.
"We have to find them and not assume that they are children of the upper-middle class. Many children from the lower class, the poor, actually have high intelligence. We have to find them," he explained.
Therefore, Prabowo requested that the search for talented students be conducted collaboratively among ministries, the TNI, the National Police, and community organizations and educational foundations.
"So I ask the Minister of Education and Culture to be assisted by the Minister of Research and Technology, assisted by the Minister of Social Affairs, assisted by the TNI Commander, assisted by the National Police Chief who has networks in villages, perhaps assisted by social organizations, assisted by foundations, to find them," the President concluded.
