TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi reaffirmed that a cabinet reshuffle remains the sole prerogative of President Prabowo Subianto. The Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party stated that there are currently no plans for a cabinet reshuffle.
According to him, the reports regarding a reshuffle of ministers and deputy ministers within the Red and White Cabinet are merely rumors. "If it's a rumor, how do we stop it, right?" Prasetyo remarked at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, on Friday, January 30, 2026.
He emphasized that any decision regarding the cabinet falls under Prabowo’s authority. According to Prasetyo, Prabowo evaluates the performance of his cabinet members on a daily basis. "It doesn't mean there is a requirement for a special forum for evaluation, no," Prasetyo said.
The former member of the House of Representatives (DPR) mentioned that Prabowo continues to assess the performance of his ministers and deputy ministers in carrying out their duties. From these periodic evaluations, Prabowo will determine the necessary course for improvement.
"If the President then feels the need to make improvements or changes, well, that is entirely up to him. Because he monitors the performance of his cabinet assistants on a daily basis," Prasetyo stated.
Rumors of a reshuffle have resurfaced recently. The issue arose after Prabowo's nephew, Thomas Djiwandono, was appointed as the Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia. Thomas's appointment automatically left the position of Deputy Minister of Finance vacant.
Furthermore, reports of a cabinet reshuffle gained momentum when another nephew of Prabowo, Budisatrio Djiwandono, was said to be joining the cabinet by the Chairperson of Commission I of the DPR, Utut Adianto.
The statement was made by Utut during a working meeting with the Ministry of Defense and the TNI on Monday, January 26. "It is said that, and I presume, someone on my right will join the executive soon," the PDIP politician said.
Budisatrio is the Deputy Chairperson of Commission I of the DPR from the Gerindra Party Faction. When Utut made the statement, Budisatrio was sitting directly next to him.
However, Budisatrio denied Utut's statement. He said he has not joined the cabinet. "My duty remains the same in Commission I of the DPR," the Gerindra Party politician stated on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
