TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesians remain pessimistic about the job availability, a survey released by Bank Indonesia reports. This is reflected in the Job Availability Index, which has stayed below 100 in the pessimistic zone since May 2025.
In August, the index parked at 93.2 points, the lowest after a brief jump in July with 95.3 points.
"Based on age groups, all respondents are pessimistic about the current job availability," BI wrote in the August 2025 Consumer Survey report released on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. The highest Job Availability is recorded in the 20-30 age group, at a level of 97.2, followed by the 31-40 age group at 96.4.
Meanwhile, based on educational groups, the bachelor's and postgraduate education groups are in the optimistic zone, at levels of 103.7 and 111.7, respectively. However, the high school and academy/diploma education groups are still in the pessimistic zone, at levels of 86.2 and 97.5, respectively.
The Job Availability Index is one of the three components used to calculate the Current Economic Condition Index (IKE). The IKE in August 2025 was recorded at a level of 105.1, lower than the previous month's level of 106.6.
The other two components in calculating IKE are the Current Income Index (IPSI) and the Durable Goods Purchasing Index (IPDG). Both of these indices are recorded in the optimistic level, at 116.9 and 105.1, respectively.
