TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The rupiah exchange rate against the U.S. dollar is estimated to weaken tomorrow following Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto's reshuffle of the Red and White Cabinet. As is known, Prabowo decided to replace four ministers and one coordinating minister on Monday, September 8, 2025.
Commodities and currency analyst Ibrahim Assuaibi projects the rupiah exchange rate to be around Rp16,300 per U.S. dollar tomorrow. "For the rupiah tomorrow, it is likely to weaken to Rp16,300-16,350," said Ibrahim on Monday.
In today's closing trading, the rupiah strengthened by 123 points to reach Rp16,309 per U.S. dollar. At the close of last week's trading, the rupiah's exchange rate against the U.S. dollar was recorded at Rp16,433.
According to Ibrahim, the replacement of Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has a negative impact on the current market. Nevertheless, he hopes that the market's weakening will not be too sharp.
"The cabinet reshuffle regarding Sri Mulyani has a negative impact at the moment, but perhaps the weakening the following day, although it weakens, will not be too sharp, because this is indeed the prerogative of President Prabowo Subianto."
Today, President Prabowo inaugurated four ministers and one deputy minister in the inauguration ceremony at the State Palace in Central Jakarta. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said that four ministers and one coordinating minister were replaced.
As for the coordinating minister and the ministers who were replaced, they are Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security Budi Gunawan; Minister of Cooperatives Budi Arie; Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo; Finance Minister Sri Mulyani; and Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding. Then, there is one new ministry, namely the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
