TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has removed a total of 1,414 proposals for nutritional meal service units for the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) that were deemed to have shown no progress for over 45 days. This move is part of a comprehensive evaluation of thousands of potential nutritional meal providers in various regions.
BGN Deputy Head, Sony Sonjaya, stated that the decision was made to ensure the efficient selection of partners and to provide opportunities for those who are genuinely interested in participating in the national program.
"Proposals that show no progress for a long period of time will hinder other potential partners who are serious about building nutritional meal service units to support the MBG program. Therefore, we have removed them from the system," said Sony in a written statement quoted on Sunday, August 19, 2025.
According to Sony, the BGN partner portal for nutritional meal service units is currently closed temporarily, as administrative analysis and evaluation processes are underway.
Regarding the process of becoming a partner for nutritional meal service units, Sony explained that it is divided into two stages: application verification and preparation for construction. New partners who have passed the verification stage are allowed to commence construction or renovation of facilities to become MBG kitchen providers.
"Partners who have not passed the verification stage are not allowed to start construction or renovation until they receive official approval from the BGN," he stated.
Sony further expressed BGN's commitment to tightening the selection process so that all operational nutritional meal service units meet the food safety, sanitation, and distribution management standards set by the institution.
Sony mentioned that registration for new partners will gradually reopen after the evaluation process is completed. Priority will be given to sub-districts that still lack nutritional meal service units, according to the needs of the beneficiaries of the MBG program.
The beneficiaries include toddlers, pregnant and lactating women, as well as students in schools targeted by the program. "We want to ensure that the existence of nutritional meal service units effectively meets the nutritional needs of the community, rather than just fulfilling administrative requirements," said Sony.
