TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has insisted that Israel should bear the cost of Gaza reconstruction, said Hamas political bureau member, Mousa Abu Marzouk.
"We believe that the occupation is primarily responsible for the destruction of the Gaza Strip, so it should bear the cost of reconstruction," Abu Marzouk told RIA Novosti as reported on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, by Antara.
Abu Marzouk also conveyed that Hamas will work with all factions in Palestine to develop a unified national vision, stating that Hamas has a comprehensive understanding of the next stage "not only in Gaza, but also West Bank."
A Hamas delegation arrived in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Sunday to discuss the implementation of a ceasefire deal in Gaza. The group will discuss the agreement with other Palestinian factions, mediators, and Palestinian political forces.
Meanwhile, in mid-October, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stated that a conference on the reconstruction of Gaza would be held in Cairo in November.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa stated on Thursday, October 16, 2025, that his government, in cooperation with Arab and international experts, has developed a plan for the recovery and reconstruction of Gaza. The reconstruction of Gaza consists of three phases with a cost of around US$67 billion or approximately Rp1,111 trillion, to be carried out over a period of five years.
