TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The latest survey by Bank Indonesia (BI) has recorded changes in the income allocation of household consumers for consumption and installment payment or debt. The portion of income used for consumption has decreased, while debt payments have increased.
"The ratio of consumption to income has decreased, amid increasing loan payments and relatively stable savings," explained the consumer financial conditions as stated by the BI consumer survey released on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
In August 2025, the average propensity to consume ratio was recorded at 74.8 percent. This is lower compared to the proportion in the previous month, which was 75.4 percent.
BI noted that the portion of consumption to income indicated a decrease in some expenditure groups, especially for households with expenditures of Rp1-2 million and Rp3.1-4 million.
