TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ricky Siahaan, the guitarist of the Indonesian metal band Seringai, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 22:10 Japan time at the age of 48 in Tokyo due to a heart attack. He passed away in the middle of the band's tour titled Seringai Wolves of Asia Tour. During their visit to Japan, Seringai was participating in the Gekiko Fest held tonight. Ricky was reported to have passed away after performing with his band.
Japanese musician and DJ, Freya Fox, reported this sad news through her tweet on X. "BREAKING NEWS FROM TOKYO: famous Indonesian heavy metal rock band. Seringai's drummer suddenly passed away during their concert in Tokyo," she tweeted three hours ago. She has not yet known Ricky's position in Seringai.
Ricky Siahaan's Death Confirmed by Tokyo Police
One hour ago, Freya corrected her mistake. "Correction: Guitarist Ricky Siahaan tragically passed away due to a heart attack. A close source of mine confirmed this with the Tokyo police," she wrote.
In Indonesia, this news was spread by writer and comedian, Soleh Solihun. "Farewell @RickySiahaan. May you be accepted on God's side," Soleh wrote on X.
This morning, Ricky still managed to post photos of himself with the band during the concert. "Japan, we have lift off. Show number 4, Merry Go Round Shinjuku was an effing blast!" Ricky started his post.
Born on May 5, 1976, this man wrote that Tokyo is one of the dynamic and never boring cities. "We met and chatted with various new friends. Besides Indonesia and Japan, there were also some friends from Singapore and Malaysia. Salute!" he wrote.
Four days ago, Ricky, whose birth name is Ricardo Bisuk Juara Siahaan, posted a photo of himself in Taiwan. In Taiwan, Seringai held concerts in three cities, Taichung, Taipei, and Kaohsiung.
Ricky expressed his impressions during the Asia Tour. "We had a blast. Initiating new friendships as we traveled. Both special guests, bands from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Taiwan, as well as the audience," he wrote.
Ricky's last post this morning was immediately flooded by friends mourning his sudden departure. "Mas Rick. Oh God," wrote Iga Massardi, the vocalist and guitarist of Barasuara. "Rest in power," wrote Fiersa Besari. "Kak Ricky, farewell, Kak. Have a good rest," wrote Danilla, a musician.
