TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming responded to the cabinet reshuffle carried out by President Prabowo Subianto during his visit to Batam on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. Gibran stated that the reshuffle of the Red and White Cabinet is a strategy to strengthen the government's performance and ensure that public services run more optimally.
"This is done so that the government can work more optimally," said Gibran in response to journalists' questions after attending the first lobster harvest at the Marine Aquaculture Center (BPBL) in Batam, Riau Islands, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
Gibran stated that the reshuffle carried out by the president has gone through a thorough consideration process, both in terms of performance and the strategic needs of the government. "These are steps that have been thoroughly calculated by Mr. President from all sides, including performance and others," he said.
He asked the public to pray for and support the newly appointed ministers and deputy ministers so that they can make the best contributions to the nation. "Let's pray for the ministers and deputy ministers so that they can work well," said Gibran.
Prior to this, President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated four ministers and one deputy minister at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, on Monday afternoon, September 8, 2025. This inauguration was held after Prabowo reshuffled the composition of coordinating ministers, ministers, and deputy ministers. The coordinating ministers and ministers who were replaced are the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan; Cooperative Minister Budi Arie; Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo; Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, and Minister of the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding.
State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated that this cabinet reshuffle is not intended to eliminate the ministers during the era of the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). "There is none, there is none," said Prasetyo Hadi in response to media questions at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, September 8, 2025.
Prasetyo explained that the ministers inaugurated on this Monday are the best sons that Indonesia has. The selection of the ministers is also the prerogative of President Prabowo. "There's no specific person, it's about the best sons of Indonesia," Pras continued.
The ministers and deputy ministers were inaugurated based on Presidential Decree Number 86 of 2025. This decree appointed Mochamad Irfan Yusuf as the Minister of Hajj and Umrah; Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak as the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah; Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa as the Minister of Finance; Mukhtarudin as the Minister of the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI); and Ferry Juliantono as the Minister of Cooperatives.
All of them then took their oaths together with President Prabowo according to the beliefs of Islam. "By Allah, I swear, that I will be faithful to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, and will carry out all the laws and regulations with utmost dedication for my devotion to the nation and state," the five ministers and deputy ministers said together.
They pledged, in carrying out their duties and positions, to uphold the ethics of their positions and to work to the best of their ability and with full responsibility.
