TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - United States President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Washington was not ready to end the conflict with Iran, which is now entering its third week.
"We're not ready to leave yet, but we'll be leaving in the near future," Trump told reporters at the White House, as quoted by Antara.
When asked about the White House's plans for the next conflict with Iran, Trump did not explain. He repeated his claim that Iran has been destroyed in every way since the U.S. and Israel launched a massive attack on February 28.
He said it will take Iran a decade to rebuild.
Trump told reporters that he was not worried about U.S. ground troops being deployed to Iran turning into "another Vietnam."
According to local analysts, if Washington plans to seize Kharg Island—Iran's main oil export hub—and target underground facilities in Isfahan, believed to hold most of its nuclear material, a U.S. or Israeli ground operation would likely be necessary.
