TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), General Agus Subiyanto, has revoked the Siaga 1 high-alert status for his soldiers. Brigadier General Donny Pramono, Head of the TNI Army Information Service, stated that the military is now implementing Siaga 3 to secure regions during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr season.
"We are implementing Siaga 3 because we will be carrying out the Eid al-Fitr festivities," he said at the Army Headquarters on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
Donny explained that the initial implementation of Siaga 1 status by the TNI was never related to any conflict situation or warfare in the Middle East or any other region. He emphasized that the Siaga 1 status was applied to inspect the completeness of main weapon systems and the readiness of all soldier elements.
The inspection of soldier readiness was subsequently conducted through a troop formation ceremony held at Monas, Central Jakarta, on March 7, 2026. Once all inspection stages were completed, he said, the status ended. "So the escalation was reduced to Siaga 3 for us to face the Eid al-Fitr events," he said.
Donny conveyed that currently, TNI AD personnel have been deployed to guard several vital national facilities during Ramadan. Personnel have also been stationed at several crowded points to ensure a smooth and safe exodus and Lebaran holiday in 2026.
He hopes that the deployment of military troops will enable the public to enjoy this year's Eid al-Fitr safely.
The Siaga 1 status was determined by the Commander for all defense units in Indonesia through a Telegram issued on March 1, 2026. The Siaga 1 status in the TNI command is the highest level of readiness, where all personnel must be prepared at headquarters, complete with weapons, ammunition, and vehicles, to face emergency threats.
Previously, the Head of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency, Lieutenant General Yudi Abdimantyo, stated that the imposition of Siaga 1 aimed to anticipate the domestic security situation following the United States and Israel's attacks on Iran.
Indeed, those attacks triggered retaliation from Iran, which launched strikes on several US military bases in Middle Eastern countries. "As the vanguard in safeguarding the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia, the TNI must anticipate every situation that occurs, whether globally, regionally, or nationally," Yudi told Tempo on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
