TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ten Indonesian representatives have secured spots in the semifinals of the Thailand Masters 2026, underscoring the country’s continued strength in international badminton.

Out of the 12 quarterfinal matches held on Friday, January 30, at Nimibutr Stadium, Bangkok, only two Indonesian players were eliminated.

This strong showing ensures Indonesia will be represented in the singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles finals. The high number of semifinalists also increases Indonesia’s chances of claiming multiple titles at the BWF Super 300 tournament.

In the men’s singles, Alwi Farhan and Moh Zaki Ubaidillah will face off for a place in the final. The pair have met three times in official competitions, with Alwi leading 2-1. Their most recent encounter was in the 2025 SEA Games gold medal match, which Alwi won.

The men’s doubles division features an all-Indonesian semifinal showdown between Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana and Muhammad Rian Ardianto/Rahmat Hidayat.

Another pair, Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin, could extend Indonesia’s dominance if they defeat China’s Hu Ke Yuan/Lin Xiang Yi.

In mixed doubles, three Indonesian pairs advanced. Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah will play against Bobby Setiabudi/Melati Daeva Oktavianti, while sixth-seeded Adnan Maulana/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil face Japan’s Akira Koga/Natsu Saito.

Indonesia’s women’s doubles also remains strong, with Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari and Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti progressing to the semifinals. They will meet China’s Bao Li Jing/Li Yi Jing and Japan’s Kaho Osawa/Mai Tanabe, respectively.
