TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board, and Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, believes that Indonesia has great opportunities to attract new investments, especially in the renewable energy and digital economy sectors.
The Indonesian government, according to Rosan, is drafting several measures to strengthen this attraction, including by pushing for the development of a data center in Batam—one of the priority locations.
Indonesia is striving to improve the investment climate, alongside job creation, according to Rosan. Streamlined regulations and policy certainty are deemed crucial to bolster investor confidence. So far, foreign investors remain cautious of the stability of Indonesia's long-term policy stability.
Rosan Roeslani also underscores the role of sovereign wealth fund Danantara in consolidating state-owned enterprise assets. Launched nearly a year ago in February 2025, Danantara currently manages assets of around US$900 billion based on IDN Financials data as of January 2026.
Rosan expresses Indonesia's interest in expanding cooperation with foreign state investment agencies such as Singapore's Temasek and Malaysia's Khazanah Nasional. Rosan believes regional cooperation is increasingly important in promoting cross-border investments in the ASEAN region, citing Southeast Asian countries' untapped potential.
