TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An online petition created by a student using the username "siswa agit" is demanding the cancellation of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) scheduled for November 2025. The TKA score is required as one of the qualifications for the 2026 state university entrance exams via the achievement track.
The petition was launched on the Change.org website on Sunday, October 26, 2025. As of Monday, October 27, 2025, at 5:32 p.m. Jakarta time, the petition had garnered 34,665 signatures.
In the petition statement, "siswa agit" claimed to be one of the students facing the 2025 Academic Ability Test, arguing, "This system adds pressure to students."
The student explained that their school initially used the Merdeka Curriculum, which did not include the TKA, but the test was subsequently introduced without warning.
Concerns Over Implementation and Preparation Time
The student highlighted several issues with the Academic Ability Test's implementation, including sudden approval without adequate notification at the high school level and the late determination of test material, which hampered optimal preparation.
They explained that the TKA for high school was first announced and officially sanctioned on June 8, 2025. The official document, Regulation Number 45 of 2025 concerning the Assessment Framework of TKA for High School/Vocational High School and its equivalents, was established on July 14, 2025.
The student pointed out that from July 14 to the test date of November 3, 2025, teachers and students only had 112 days left, or approximately 3.5 months, to prepare. Furthermore, the Ministry of Education's Assessment Center (Pusmendik) only officially began the Online TKA Simulation for high school/vocational high school and equivalents on October 6, 2025.
The petition maker also noted that tutoring teachers initially made estimates of the questions after the test material was distributed in July 2025, but these estimates proved inaccurate. "As a result, the estimated questions were redesigned by the teachers after the first Online TKA Simulation," they stated. The student also mentioned that the amount of material to be covered was too extensive, making question prediction impossible.
Technical Disruptions During Rehearsal
The Academic Ability Test is designed to measure the academic achievement of students in their final year of an educational stage. The first phase of the TKA is scheduled to run from November 3 to 9, 2025. Prior to this, the government is conducting a series of simulations, followed by a nationwide TKA trial from October 27 to 30, 2025.
However, the first day of the trial experienced technical difficulties. Annisianti Septiani reported that her son, Ianuno Atar Karim, a 12th-grade student at Depok State High School 10, could not fully complete the rehearsal on Monday, October 27, 2025. The TKA server experienced an error, allowing Ianuno to complete only 15 out of 85 questions.
Toni Toharudin, Head of the Education Standardization, Curriculum, and Assessment Agency, admitted there was a disruption. He attributed the issue to the ministry's efforts to ensure a flawless experience for the upcoming November TKA implementation.
"The disruption occurred because we are working to ensure the best preparation for the big day," he said when contacted on Monday, October 27, 2025.
