TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto summoned several ministers to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta for a closed-door meeting. The head of state called his cabinet members together on Wednesday night, January 28, 2026, according to the Cabinet Secretariat's website.
The Secretariat's statement, released on Thursday, January 29, 2026, noted, "President Prabowo Subianto summoned several Red and White Cabinet ministers to the Merdeka Palace."
A photo released by the Cabinet Secretariat showed the ministers gathered around a table with the President.
Those in attendance included Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto; Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto; and State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi. Investment and Downstream Minister and Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, SOE Minister Dony Oskaria, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya were also present.
The meeting reportedly focused on the management of national natural resources, specifically within the mineral and coal sectors. Prabowo urged the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to swiftly draft a policy framework that prioritizes the national interest.
Following the session, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia delivered a presentation on mineral resource governance, receiving several points of input from the President.
"It was a routine discussion. As we know, President Prabowo is very democratic; so, every assignment that becomes public policy must be discussed based on the President's instructions. Then, opinions from other cabinet members who participated in the meeting are sought," Bahlil remarked.
Several other Red and White Cabinet officials were also seen at the Palace on Wednesday night. Among them were Agrarian and Spatial Planning Minister Nusron Wahid and Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, who met with Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya to discuss priority initiatives such as People's Schools and food self-sufficiency.
Housing and Settlement Minister Maruarar Sirait was also spotted visiting the Presidential Palace that evening. However, the Palace has not yet provided information regarding the specific purpose of Maruarar’s visit.
Earlier on Wednesday, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated that as of January 28, President Prabowo had not discussed the plan for a cabinet reshuffle. He added that Prabowo will not appoint a replacement for Thomas Djiwandono as deputy finance minister. Djiwandono left his position to become the deputy governor of Bank Indonesia.
