TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto summoned Housing and Settlements Minister Maruarar Sirait to his residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Thursday, January 29, 2026. The two held a private meeting at Prabowo's residence.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the meeting between Prabowo and Maruarar lasted over an hour. "On Thursday evening, President Prabowo received Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, Maruarar Sirait, at his private residence in Hambalang," Teddy said in a written statement on Thursday.
According to Teddy, Maruarar reported several of his ministerial work results to Prabowo. Maruarar presented at least four reports to his superior.
Firstly, Teddy said, it involved the clearing of 30 hectares of land for subsidized apartment buildings in Cikarang, Bekasi. The second was about completing plans for the groundbreaking of 141,000 subsidized units to be distributed in the aforementioned areas.
Thirdly, Maruarar reported that the housing was very close to urban areas and had access to public facilities such as schools, hospitals, offices, factories, and major roads. "Fourthly, through the development, it is estimated that around 80,000 workers will be absorbed in all sectors and will accelerate the economic chain circulation," Teddy explained.
Prabowo, according to Teddy, expressed hope for as many Indonesian citizens as possible to have affordable decent housing for all layers of society. One of Prabowo's expectations for the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas is to achieve the target.
The government, Teddy said, plans to make houses more accessible to all layers of society. "One of the steps is the availability of decent subsidized housing and the reduction of all forms of permits and the cost of permit and administration processing," he said.
The meeting between Prabowo and Maruarar took place one day after the President called several ministers to the Presidential Palace. On Wednesday night, January 28, 2026, Prabowo held a meeting with several members of his cabinet.
Some of the ministers present at the Wednesday night meeting included Coordinating Minister for the Economy Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, Secretary of State Minister Prasetyo Hadi, and Minister of Investment and Downstreaming as well as CEO of Danantara Rosan Perkasa Roeslani. Additionally, SOE Regulatory Agency Head Dony Oskaria and Secretary of the Cabinet Teddy Indra Wijaya were also present.
According to the Cabinet Secretariat, the meeting discussed the implementation of national natural resources management, especially in the mineral and coal sectors. Prabowo asked the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to formulate the right policy immediately for the greater good of the nation.
Several other officials from the Red and White Cabinet, in addition to the ministers attending the meeting, also visited the Presidential Palace on Wednesday night. Among them were Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning / National Land Agency Nusron Wahid and Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf who met with Secretary of the Cabinet Teddy Indra Wijaya. Both discussed various priority programs of Prabowo such as People's School and food self-sufficiency.
