TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Heavy rain that began at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, has caused widespread flooding across Semarang City, with several areas remaining submerged until Wednesday morning.
Semarang Mayor Agustina Wilujeng confirmed that the deluge had inundated several main roads, including Kapten Piere Tendean Street, Kaligawe Street, Majapahit Street, Tentara Pelajar Street, and Siliwangi Street.
As of Wednesday morning, Tlogosari Kulon Village was still heavily impacted, with at least half of Nogososro Street challenging to navigate even for motorcycles.
Mayor Wilujeng stated that response teams have been deployed since Tuesday night. "Since last night, we have deployed teams from the Public Works Agency, Housing and Settlement Agency, Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and others to carry out efforts until this morning," she told reporters on October 22, 2025.
The combination of rainfall and flood accumulation severely affected traffic. Joint officer observations showed that Kaligawe Street was obstructed, hindering the flow of traffic from Demak Regency toward the city center. Alternative access routes from the east also experienced flooding.
The floods were further exacerbated by tidal floods (rob) occurring along the border between Semarang City and Demak Regency. This overflow resulted in a protracted traffic jam along the critical North Coast Route (Pantura) in Sayung District, Demak Regency, which continued throughout Wednesday morning.
