TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's .tate toll road operator PT Jasa Marga reported a sharp increase in outbound traffic from the Greater Jakarta metropolitan area.
A total of 1,556,310 vehicles left Jabodetabek on Saturday, December 27, 2025, or H+1 of the year-end holiday period, reflecting heightened mobility in Southeast Asia’s largest economy during one of its busiest travel seasons.
The figure was compiled from traffic data at four main toll gates: Cikupa toward Merak, Ciawi toward Puncak, Cikampek Utama toward Trans Java, and Kalihurip Utama toward Bandung.
Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono said outbound traffic from Jabodetabek rose by 16.21 percent compared with normal conditions. He noted that vehicle movements remained high during the period from H-7 to H+1 of the 2025 Christmas holiday.
“There is still significant outbound traffic from Jabodetabek during this holiday period,” Rivan said in a written statement on Saturday.
He said the majority of vehicles were heading east. A total of 748,720 vehicles, or 48.1 percent of the total outbound traffic, traveled toward Trans Java and Bandung.
Traffic heading west toward Merak accounted for 446,404 vehicles, or 28.7 percent, while movements toward Puncak (Bogor) reached 361,186 vehicles, or 23.2 percent.
For the eastern corridor, Jasa Marga recorded 391,177 vehicles passing through the Cikampek Utama toll gate toward Trans Java, marking a 45.96 percent increase from normal traffic levels.
Meanwhile, traffic toward Bandung via the Kalihurip Utama toll gate reached 357,543 vehicles, up 25.58 percent. Overall, eastbound traffic rose by 35.46 percent.
Traffic toward Merak through the Cikupa toll gate remained relatively stable, with a slight increase of 0.22 percent, while traffic toward Puncak via the Ciawi toll gate rose by 5.91 percent compared with normal conditions.
Rivan added that between Friday, December 26, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. WIB and Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 06:00 AM WIB, a total of 176,131 vehicles left Jabodetabek, an increase of 4.48 percent from normal traffic.
At the same time, Jasa Marga has begun recording an increase in return traffic to Jabodetabek. On H+1 of Christmas, 153,529 vehicles entered the area through the four main toll gates, up 6.78 percent from normal conditions.
In anticipation of the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year holiday period, Jasa Marga urged toll road users to prepare their journeys carefully. Motorists are advised to ensure their vehicles are in good condition, maintain their health, plan rest stops, and make sure they have sufficient fuel and electronic toll balance.
The company also encouraged road users to access real-time traffic updates through the Travoy application and to follow traffic signs as well as instructions from officers on duty.
