TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority recorded a surge in public visits to the Nusantara central government district (KIPP) during the Christmas and New Year holidays. Around 37,000 people visited the area on December 25.
Spokesperson for the IKN Authority, Troy Pantouw, said the high number of tourists was also evident from the movement of vehicles entering the KIPP area. "On December 25, the number of vehicles recorded entering the KIPP reached around 10,050 units," Troy said as quoted from a written statement on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
According to him, the sunny and hot weather did not deter people from visiting IKN. "KIPP appeared to be very crowded, both by visitors and vehicles," he said.
IKN Authority also deployed over 140 joint personnel to ensure the smooth running of activities. They were members of the IKN Authority, the military and police, healthcare workers, and firefighters. They were tasked with managing traffic, controlling access to and from the area, as well as maintaining the safety and comfort of visitors.
"The team worked well in managing the access in and out of the area," Troy said, adding that parking spaces were also adequate.
In addition to traffic control, public facilities in the KIPP area were also optimized, with officers ensuring toilets, prayer rooms, and garbage bins functioned well during peak visiting hours.
Visitors also contribute to high economic activities by surrounding residents. Troy mentioned that the tenants and businesses around KIPP experienced increased sales during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
