TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Buckingham Palace has stated that King Charles III supports British police action against former Prince Andrew. The man, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, is suspected of leaking confidential information to Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender who committed suicide in prison.
Charles made his statement on Monday, February 10, 2026, after Thames Valley Police confirmed they were reviewing reports that Andrew sent a trafficking report to Epstein in 2010. Thames Valley Police began investigating the case following widespread media coverage.
The report refers to email correspondence allegedly containing reports from former Prince Andrew to Epstein about his official visit to Southeast Asia in 2010, when Andrew served as the UK's envoy for international trade.
"King Charles has made clear, both through statements and through unprecedented measures, his deep concern at the continuing allegations regarding Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor's conduct," said a Buckingham Palace statement, as reported by Al Jazeera.
"While these specific claims are matters for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to clarify, if we are contacted by Thames Valley Police, we stand ready to provide appropriate support," the statement said.
That same day, Thames Valley Police confirmed they had received a formal complaint from an anti-monarchy activist. Police are assessing the information in accordance with established procedures.
Emails Andrew sent to Epstein were included in more than three million pages of documents released by the United States Department of Justice last month. The uncovered correspondence shows that Andrew allegedly forwarded copies of reports from his two-week trip to Southeast Asia, including to Hanoi, Saigon, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong, to Epstein shortly after returning to the UK.
The police investigation began after Graham Smith, CEO of the anti-monarchy group Republic, reported Andrew for alleged abuse of public office and violation of the UK's Official Secrets Act.
Andrew, now 65, has been under public scrutiny for years due to his relationship with Epstein. The relationship cost him his official role in the royal family and his honorary titles, and he was also evicted from his residence. However, Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has not commented since the release of the latest Epstein documents.
Following widespread news of Andrew's involvement with Epstein, he was evicted from his residence at Royal Lodge, Windsor. According to a CBS News report, Andrew now resides at Sandringham, the private estate of King Charles III in Norfolk, eastern England. The move was announced by Buckingham Palace last October and was originally expected to occur in early 2026.
Although there has been no further official statement from the royal family, as of Wednesday morning local time, Andrew had settled at Sandringham. This move occurred privately, just days after the United States Department of Justice released approximately three million additional documents and photographs related to Jeffrey Epstein.
