TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The global K-pop sensation BTS is preparing for a monumental comeback, planning what could be the largest world tour of their career.
After a hiatus due to all members completing mandatory military service, the seven-member group is now reunited under HYBE’s management to produce their latest album, Bloomberg reports.
The upcoming album will be BTS’ first release since 2020 and is scheduled for late March 2026, marking a full return to large-scale performances after more than four years.
First World Tour Since 2019
BTS is reportedly planning around 65 concerts worldwide, including more than 30 shows in North America. If realized, this would be their first global tour since 2019.
However, BigHit Music, the HYBE subsidiary overseeing BTS, clarified that official tour dates and the full scale of the tour have not yet been confirmed.
“Details regarding the dates and scale of BTS’ new world tour are still under discussion,” a BigHit Music spokesperson said.
From Global Peak to Military Service
BTS played a key role in bringing K-pop to the global mainstream and was recognized as the top music group worldwide in 2020 and 2021, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.
A world tour planned in 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the group managed only 12 concerts across four cities in 2021 and 2022. These became their final performances before fulfilling mandatory military service.
Their last concert series, held in Las Vegas in April 2022, reportedly earned $8 million alone, according to Pollstar. Between 2015 and 2022, BTS’ tours generated nearly $300 million, a figure likely higher as not all performances were officially reported.
The upcoming album and world tour represent a critical test for BTS, assessing whether the group can reclaim its status as a global music phenomenon after a long hiatus.
