TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jurgen Klopp extends his congratulations to Liverpool for successfully reclaiming the English Premier League title. The club, previously under his guidance for eight seasons, secured the title with four matches remaining, after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 in the 34th week at Anfield on Sunday, April 27, 2025. "Extremely grateful for the past, very, very happy with the present, very positive about the future! Congratulations - YNWA," said the German coach, as quoted from his official Instagram account on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, reported by Sky Sports.
Klopp previously led The Reds to win the title in the 2019/2020 season. He dedicated this achievement in his fifth season with Liverpool, precisely after leading the team to win the Champions League in the previous season. He departed from Anfield at the end of last season and was succeeded by Arne Slot.
Slot, who inherited Klopp's squad, expressed his gratitude to his predecessor shortly after Liverpool secured the title. The Dutch coach expressed his thanks through a chant, "Jurgen Klopp, la la la la la," at Anfield, in front of the remaining supporters to celebrate the victory.
Slot's gesture harks back to the moment when Klopp introduced his successor to the fans at Anfield, during his farewell last year. "Arne Slot, la la la la," the lyrics sung by Klopp at that time.
Slot expressed his joy in being able to lead Liverpool to the English Premier League title. "It feels amazing. I feel like I don't want to say much. The only thing I can do now is to express my appreciation to Jurgen Klopp," he said. "The work he and Pep (Lijnders) have done, the culture, work ethos, quality, truly remarkable."
In his first season, Slot relied on Klopp's legacy squad. He only added one player, Federico Chiesa. With the existing team, the former Feyenoord coach successfully led The Reds to victory, surpassing their competitors.
Liverpool still has four remaining matches in the English Premier League, against Chelsea (May 4), Arsenal (May 11), Brighton (May 20), and Crystal Palace. They still have the potential to add 12 points to the 82 points accumulated until the 34th week.
