TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has confirmed that the 2026 FIFA Series matches will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium in Jakarta at the end of March. This certainty was conveyed by the Head of the National Team (BTN), Sumardji, when confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday. "At the GBK (Gelora Bung Karno)," said Sumardji, as quoted by Antara.
In this year's edition, Indonesia will host the biennial tournament featuring three countries from different confederations: Bulgaria (UEFA), the Solomon Islands (OFC), and Saint Kitts and Nevis (CONCACAF). The tournament will utilize a knockout format, beginning with the semifinals and followed by a third-place play-off and the final.
Sumardji previously stated that Indonesia, currently ranked 122nd by FIFA, will face Saint Kitts and Nevis (ranked 154th) in the first semifinal on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 8 p.m. Jakarta time (WIB). This match will follow the second semifinal between Bulgaria and the Solomon Islands at 3:30 p.m.
The winners of the two semifinal matches will meet in the final on March 30 at 8 p.m, while the losing teams will compete in the third-place play-off on the same day at 3:30 p.m.
The 2026 FIFA Series also marks the debut of the new national team coach, John Herdman, who was officially introduced on January 13. Following this tournament, Indonesia is scheduled to play a series of FIFA Match Day fixtures as well as the ASEAN Cup (AFF Cup) later this year.
