TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Iran has deployed one of its largest ballistic missiles at an underground facility inaugurated on Wednesday, as reported by the Fars news agency on Thursday, as quoted by Antara.
Fars identified the Khorramshahr-4 long-range ballistic missile as one of the operational assets exhibited at the site's opening, operated by the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran.
The news agency, which has close ties to the IRGC, described Khorramshahr-4 as one of Iran's advanced medium to long-range ballistic missiles, with an estimated range of about 2,000 kilometers.
An Iranian broadcaster, PressTV, as quoted by Antara, stated that the missile is capable of carrying a warhead weighing 1,500 kilograms.
Its warhead is capable of carrying over a ton of high explosive material, the report revealed, making it "one of the largest warhead configurations developed in Iran."
In the 12-day conflict last June, Iran reportedly fired the Khorramshahr-4 at Israel in retaliation for the United States strikes on Iran's nuclear-related targets.
Iran and the U.S. are scheduled to hold talks on Friday, February 6, 2026, in Muscat, Oman, amidst the recent U.S. military buildup in the Middle East and Tehran's escalating preparations.
The U.S. Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are set to meet in Muscat.
"We have a responsibility not to miss any opportunity to use diplomacy," wrote Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, on Thursday on the social media platform X.
In January, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that a "big armada" was heading toward Iran. Trump hoped that Tehran would be willing to negotiate and sign a fair and equitable agreement, including a commitment to fully abandon nuclear weapons.
Trump also warned that any future U.S. attacks on Iran would be "much worse" than previous ones if a nuclear deal was not achieved.
