Indonesian Finance Minister Appoints 27 New Officials, Mostly from Customs

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Indonesian Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa inaugurated 27 primary high-ranking officials (echelon II) at the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The inauguration took place at the Djuanda Hall, Ministry of Finance office, Jakarta.

"I, as the Minister of Finance, hereby officially inaugurate you all into your new positions within the Ministry of Finance," said Purbaya during the inauguration ceremony.

Among the 27 inaugurated officials, 22 of them are officials of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. There are also 3 officials from the Directorate General of Treasury (DJPB), 1 official from the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN), and 1 official from the Directorate General of Financial Sector Stability and Development (DJSPSK).

In his address, Purbaya stated that the global economy is still filled with uncertainty, hence domestic demand must continue to be stimulated. However, he emphasized that this cannot be achieved if there are still many illegal smuggled goods.

Purbaya mentioned that the Directorate General of Customs and Excise is at the forefront of safeguarding the domestic market from unfair competition. He also advised the newly inaugurated officials to work diligently.

"In the future, we cannot take things lightly because in new positions, we will be closely monitored. If there are any disappointments, do not take it lightly, I will rearrange things," he said.
