TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto announced that the central government will provide smart TVs to schools across Indonesia as part of efforts to strengthen technology-based learning and expand access to quality education.
Speaking during an inspection at SMA Negeri 10, located at the Margaguna Social Welfare Training Center of the Ministry of Social Affairs in Ragunan, South Jakarta, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, Prabowo said each school will initially receive one smart TV.
“Currently, we have distributed them, but so far, we can only provide one smart digital screen per school,” he stated.
According to Prabowo, the government has set a target to equip 330,000 schools with smart TVs by the end of this year. Of that figure, 100,000 schools are expected to receive the devices in November, while around 10,000 have already been supplied.
By next year, the government plans to raise the allocation to three smart TVs per school, with the ultimate goal of placing one unit in every classroom.
“These smart TVs will support distance education, especially in remote and disadvantaged areas, as well as in parts of Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi where teachers are lacking or teacher training is limited,” Prabowo explained.
The program, first announced in his state address at the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly on August 15, 2025, involves the distribution of 288,000 smart TVs nationwide. Through this initiative, the government aims to bridge gaps in teacher availability and ensure that students, regardless of location, can learn virtually from qualified educators.
“We are distributing smart TVs to schools in remote areas so that every child has the opportunity to access quality education,” the President said.
