TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas regulator SKK Migas aims to bring eight upstream oil and gas projects online in 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen national energy supply and curb declining production.
The projects span several working areas and include both the development of existing fields and capacity upgrades for oil, gas, and condensate production.
“The total capital expenditure for these eight projects reaches US$478 million,” SKK Migas Head Djoko Siswanto told a hearing with House of Representatives Commission XII at the parliamentary complex on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Djoko said the additional output from the projects is expected to help bolster Indonesia’s energy resilience.
Oil Projects
In oil production, several projects are being developed by PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR). The Sedingin North-1 field production facility is targeted to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2026, with a capacity of 325 barrels of oil per day (BOPD).
Also in the same working area, the Polymer Minas Area D project is scheduled to come onstream in the second quarter of 2026, with a capacity of 1,212 BOPD.
Meanwhile, PT Pertamina EP is developing the Upgrading Puspa Asri project, which is projected to start production in the fourth quarter of 2026 with a capacity of 1,034 BOPD.
Gas and Condensate Projects
Several gas and condensate projects are also set to begin operations.
The Senoro Selatan Phase II project, operated by JOB Pertamina-Medco E&P Tomori Sulawesi, is targeted to commence operations in the first quarter of 2026, with a capacity of 110 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 2,800 barrels of condensate per day (bcpd).
Condensate output will also be supported by the OO-OX project operated by PT PHE ONWJ, which has a planned capacity of 2,996 bcpd and 21.3 MMSCFD of gas. The project is scheduled to go onstream in the first quarter of 2026.
EMP Bentu Ltd’s NSD Plant is expected to begin production in the second quarter of 2026, with a capacity of 20 MMSCFD of gas and 90 BOPD of condensate.
Medco E&P Grissik Ltd is developing the Suban Compressor Clustering project, also targeted for the second quarter of 2026. The project will add 118 MMSCFD of gas capacity, aimed at offsetting natural production decline.
Another project scheduled to start earlier in the year is the Sisi Nubi AOI 1, 3, 5 Phase II project operated by PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam. It is targeted to come onstream in the first quarter of 2026, with a design capacity of 180 MMSCFD and a peak production of 120 MMSCFD.
Production Targets
Overall, additional gas production from the projects set to begin operations in 2026 is estimated at 214 MMSCFD, while incremental oil output is targeted at around 8,200 barrels per day.
With nearly half a billion US dollars in capital expenditure and new production expected to flow this year, the eight projects are expected to strengthen Indonesia’s energy security while slowing the long-standing decline in national upstream oil and gas output.
“Additional production in 2026 is projected at 8,200 barrels of oil per day and 214 MMSCFD of gas,” Djoko said.
