TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national futsal team defeated Kyrgyzstan 5–3 in their second Group A match of the 2026 Asia Futsal Cup on Thursday night, January 29, 2026, extending their winning streak in the tournament.
Indonesia fell behind early after a defensive error allowed Makhmadaminov Shokhrukh to open the scoring for Kyrgyzstan in the sixth minute. However, the setback was short-lived as Indonesia responded quickly.
Led by captain Muhammad Iqbal, Indonesia equalized two minutes later when Iqbal capitalized on a scramble inside the penalty area to make it 1–1.
The momentum stayed with Hector Souto’s side, and Iqbal struck again from the penalty spot after a foul in front of goal, sending a powerful shot into the right corner to give Indonesia a 2–1 lead.
The match remained highly intense, with physical challenges on both ends. One notable moment saw a Kyrgyzstan player collide with goalkeeper Ahmad Habiebie, though the referee ruled no foul.
Early in the second half, Indonesia extended their lead. Ardiansyah Nur collected a long pass from the back and set up Rio Pangestu Putra, who finished calmly to make it 3–1.
Kyrgyzstan fought back through Shokhrukh, who scored his second goal to reduce the deficit to 3–2. Their comeback continued when Alimov Maksat converted a penalty to level the score at 3–3, raising the tension inside the arena.
Indonesia regained control soon after. Ardiansyah Nur struck from distance with a powerful shot that beat goalkeeper Chorobek Uulu, restoring Indonesia’s lead at 4–3. Kyrgyzstan then switched to a power-play tactic by pushing their goalkeeper forward, but the strategy failed to produce results.
Indonesia sealed the win when Israr Megantara capitalized on a goalkeeping error to score the fifth goal. Despite several late chances, the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.
The victory lifted Indonesia to six points, following their opening 5–0 win over South Korea. The result puts the host nation at the top of Group A and confirms their place in the quarterfinals, with one group match remaining against Iraq on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
