TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa reported that state revenue as of January 31, 2026, has reached Rp172.7 trillion. This figure is equivalent to 5.5 percent of this year's total targeted revenue of Rp3,153.6 trillion.
This year's state revenue in January increased by 9.8 percent compared to the realization in the same period last year, which stood at Rp157.3 trillion. "This performance is mainly supported by a significant increase in tax revenue, which reached 30.8 percent year-on-year," Purbaya stated during a meeting with the House of Representatives' Commission XI in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
This growth stemmed from a 7 percent increase in gross revenue and a significant 23 percent decrease in refunds, resulting in positive net growth across all tax categories.
The state revenue realization of Rp172.7 trillion consists of tax revenue amounting to Rp116.2 trillion and customs and excise revenue of Rp22.6 trillion. Meanwhile, non-tax state revenue (PNBP) reached Rp33.9 trillion by January 31, 2026.
On the other hand, customs and excise revenue experienced a 14 percent contraction from last year's realization, which was recorded at Rp26.3 trillion. Purbaya explained that this decrease was due to a 29 percent increase in zero-tariff imported commodities compared to the previous year. Additionally, the decline was driven by the price of crude palm oil (CPO) dropping from US$1,059 per metric ton to US$916 per metric ton, a correction of 13.5 percent.
The realization of non-tax state revenue in January also declined by 19.7 percent compared to last year, when it was recorded at Rp42.1 trillion. The cause was the absence of recurring banking dividend payments of Rp10 trillion that occurred the previous year.
For the current year, the government targets state revenue of Rp3,153.6 trillion and state expenditure of Rp3,842.7 trillion. Consequently, the 2026 State Budget (APBN) is estimated to experience a deficit of Rp689.1 trillion, or 2.68 percent of the gross domestic product.
