TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Immigration officers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport are now equipped with body cameras while performing their duties. The installation of these devices aims to increase transparency and accountability in the officers' field performance.
Secretary of the Directorate General of Immigration, Sandi Andaryadi, explained that every interaction and action taken by officers will be recorded. This initiative is expected to ensure procedural compliance and provide objective evidence should an incident occur.
"This is also an effort to strengthen internal oversight for clean and professional immigration services," Sandi said in a written statement on Friday, July 25, 2025.
This new policy was symbolically marked by the attachment of body cameras to five officers at the Soekarno-Hatta Class I Special Immigration Office. The ceremony took place during a roll call on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 1:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The roll call was attended by several key officials, including Baron Ichsan, Director of Internal Compliance; Pamuji Raharja, Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration for the Special Region of Jakarta; and Galih Priya Kartika Perdhana, Acting Head of the Class I Immigration Office for the Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Checkpoint (TPI). In total, 436 personnel assigned to the Immigration Checkpoint were present.
Following the roll call, employee representatives signed an Integrity Pact. This declaration represents a shared commitment to upholding work ethics, avoiding irregularities, and consistently providing public services based on integrity and transparency.
According to Sandi, currently, only 24 personnel assigned to the TPI and intelligence officers have been equipped with these devices. The long-term goal is for all immigration officers to use body cameras.
"Every officer must be prepared to be monitored, evaluated, and held accountable for their actions and decisions while on duty," Sandi emphasized.
Director of Internal Compliance at the Directorate General of Immigration, Barron Ichsan, further added that implementing body cameras is part of fostering a culture of compliance, openness, and honesty within the immigration environment.
"This demonstrates the Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Office's commitment to modernization and professionalism, while also creating a safer and fairer working environment for both officers and the public," he concluded.
