TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that it will conduct further assessment before repatriating 53 Indonesian nationals who recently left a company involved in online scam operations at the Myanmar-Thailand border.

"Repatriation can be carried out once all verification processes and mandatory procedures have been fulfilled," said the Acting Director for the Protection of Indonesian Nationals Abroad (PWNI) at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heni Hamidah, in a brief message in Jakarta on Thursday, as quoted by Antara.

She stated that these Indonesian nationals will undergo an assessment process in Thailand after crossing the border from Myanmar to determine the next steps. Therefore, there are no immediate plans to repatriate them, she said.

Heni also mentioned that the Indonesian Embassies in Yangon and Bangkok are continuously coordinating with authorities in both countries and local networks to ensure the safety and security of Indonesian nationals.

The Acting Director for the Protection of Indonesian Nationals Abroad (PWNI) at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that they will optimize inter-agency cooperation to reduce the number of Indonesian nationals facing legal issues abroad due to working illegally.

"The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to strengthen cooperation with relevant ministries, agencies, and local governments, among other things, for public awareness campaigns," she said.

It is known that 53 Indonesian nationals previously employed at KK Park's online scam center are currently in a militia camp within the Border Guard Force (BGF)'s area, according to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon on Wednesday.

Initially, these Indonesian nationals were divided into two groups. The first group of 29 was evacuated by local social institutions, while the second group of 24 was under the supervision of the Myanmar police. They were eventually united in the camp.

According to the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon, the security situation on the ground is still unstable, so the evacuation process can only be carried out through safe, coordinated routes with the permission of local authorities.

The Indonesian Embassy in Yangon is preparing border crossing processes, document verification, and repatriation mechanisms to evacuate these Indonesian nationals. The preparation of a repatriation plan will also be carried out gradually after obtaining permission from the relevant authorities, according to the Indonesian Embassy.
