TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of National Export Development of the Ministry of Trade officiated the export of 250,000 units of Tylenol pain relievers valued at Rp2.4 billion to South Korea from PT Integrated Healthcare Indonesia (IHI) in Jakarta on Friday, February 13, 2026.
Director General of National Export Development, Fajarini Puntodewi, stated that this pharmaceutical shipment to South Korea demonstrates the strengthening competitiveness of the domestic industry. "Exports of pharmaceutical products like this are tangible proof of Indonesia's production capability within the global supply chain," Fajarini noted in a written statement.
Fajarini also expressed hope that PT IHI will expand its production volume in Indonesia and bolster the transfer of knowledge and technology further to enhance the national pharmaceutical industry's global standing.
PT IHI operates as a production facility under PT Johnson & Johnson in Indonesia, which is part of the global consumer health group Kenvue Inc., headquartered in the United States.
According to Fajarini, the presence of Kenvue Inc. in Indonesia serves as a positive signal of rising global investor confidence in the national business climate.
Fajarini emphasized that this export launch represents strategic momentum for PT IHI to solidify its export commitment, particularly since the company secured bonded zone facilities from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.
Meanwhile, Derry Arifin, Head of Customs and Excise Service Section V at the Jakarta A Madya Type Office, explained that the bonded zone facility serves as vital support for export-oriented businesses.
Upon obtaining this facility, according to Derry, the company becomes eligible for customs and tax incentives, including tax refunds.
He noted that these refunds can be reinvested into raw material purchases or used to support other operational requirements. "Thus, it enhances the company's competitiveness in the export market," Derry remarked.
The Central Statistics Agency recorded that Indonesia's pharmaceutical export performance grew by 7.63 percent over the last five years, spanning 2021 to 2025.
In 2025, South Korea emerged as the third-largest destination for Indonesian pharmaceutical exports, with a value of US$75.46 million, accounting for 10.24 percent of the country's total global pharmaceutical exports.
On a global scale, the Ministry of Trade noted that world demand for pharmaceutical products grew by 11.02 percent during the 2020–2024 period.
The global pharmaceutical industry's revenue reached US$1.16 trillion in 2024 and is projected to climb to US$1.53 trillion by 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.74 percent.
