TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian men's doubles pair, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri (Fajar/Fikri), had to settle for a runner-up finish in the BWF World Tour Super 750 French Open 2025 tournament. In the final match, held at Glaz Arena, Rennes, on Sunday night, October 26, 2025, they were defeated by the top-seeded pair from South Korea, Kim Won-ho/Seo Seung-jae, with a score of 21-10, 13-21, 12-21 in 61 minutes.

Fajar/Fikri displayed a convincing performance and took a significant lead in the first game. However, in the subsequent two games, the Korean pair changed their playing pattern and successfully pressed the Indonesian duo's defense, eventually turning the tables. This defeat marked the second loss for Fajar/Fikri in three encounters against Kim/Seo.

"We were in control of the first game. However, in the second and third games, they altered their playing pattern. We were lured by their strategy. With tight defense, they intentionally allowed us to attack and then sought opportunities to counter-attack," Fajar said after the match.

Nevertheless, Fajar expressed gratitude for the outcome. "We have to prepare for the third tournament in Germany (Hylo Open) next week. It won't be easy as our physical condition has started to wear down, but I, particularly, have to manage it wisely," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri viewed this defeat as a valuable lesson. "This is the first time we played a rubber game against them. The strategy changed significantly at every moment. They appeared flawless, strong, and better-prepared on the court," he commented.

This result extends Fajar/Fikri's runner-up trend after also losing in the final of the Denmark Open 2025 to the Japanese pair Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi last week. Both are determined to bounce back in the upcoming tournament, the Hylo Open 2025 in Germany, scheduled for next week.

With this outcome, Indonesia once again failed to bring home a title from the European tour.
