TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Five road sections in Jakarta were inundated by floods until Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 09:00 AM, after heavy rains poured over Jakarta and its surrounding areas since Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The high rainfall caused puddles in several places, which disrupted traffic flow.
The Head of the Data and Information Center for the Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Jakarta, Mohamad Yohan, said that the inundation occurred due to the high-intensity rain. "Currently, there are 20 residential areas and 5 road sections inundated," said Yohan in an official statement on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
The flooding also submerged residential areas in several neighborhoods. In East Jakarta, flooding occurred in 14 residential areas spread across Bidara Cina Sub-district with 4 residential areas, Kampung Melayu Sub-district with 4 residential areas, Cawang Sub-district with 5 residential areas, and Cililitan Sub-district with 1 residential area. The water level in this area ranged from 110 to 150 centimeters due to the overflow of the Ciliwung River.
Meanwhile, in West Jakarta, flooding affected 6 residential areas spread across two neighborhoods. In Rawa Buaya Sub-district, inundation was recorded in 3 residential areas with water levels ranging from 30 to 70 centimeters. In Kedoya Selatan Sub-district, floods submerged 3 residential areas with similar levels, triggered by high rainfall.
BPBD Jakarta deployed personnel to monitor the inundation and coordinate with the Water Resources Department (SDA), the Road Development Department, and the Fire and Rescue Department to carry out water suction and ensure that the drainage system functions properly. The BPBD aims to quickly reduce inundation.
Five road sections affected by the floods are:
1. Jalan Meruya Selatan, Meruya Selatan Sub-district, West Jakarta, with a water level of approximately 40 centimeters.
2. Jalan Daan Mogot Kilometer 12, Cengkareng Timur Sub-district, West Jakarta, inundated up to 15 centimeters.
3. Jalan Srengseng Raya, Srengseng Sub-district, West Jakarta, with a water level of approximately 40 centimeters.
4. Jalan Cileduk Raya, Cipulir Sub-district, South Jakarta, inundated by approximately 15 centimeters.
5. Jalan Raden Inten II, Duren Sawit Sub-district, East Jakarta, with a water level of approximately 25 centimeters.
