TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two videos purportedly showing explosions at Ben Gurion International Airport in Israel were shared on Facebook, Threads, TikTok, and Instagram by account one and account two [archive] on March 10, 2026.
The first video shows an explosion on an airport runway with several fighter jets. Meanwhile, the second video shows an explosion recorded from the airport lounge as the sun was setting. The explosion is said to have been caused by a ballistic missile from Iran.
But does the video actually show Iran blowing up Ben Gurion Airport?

Tempo verified the content through visual analysis, AI detection tools, and comparison with credible sources. The results show that while the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have launched missiles at Ben Gurion Airport, the two videos were identified as AI-generated content.
Citing Al Arabiya, an attack on Ben Gurion Airport did indeed occur on March 5, 2026. Israeli media reported that the airport had been closed since the attacks on Iran began, and authorities only resumed limited flights on March 8, 2026.

Tempo identified several anomalies characteristic of AI-generated content in a visual analysis of the first video. First, fighter jets were parked at a civilian airport—even though fighter jets typically operate from military bases.
Second, the passengers' faces appear blurry. Third, the information board at the 12-second mark displays text that is illegible, even when extracted using Google and Yandex.
These various anomalies align with the results from AI analysis tools. According to Is It AI, there is a 99 percent likelihood that the content was generated by AI. Similarly, the Was It AI tool detected AI elements with a high degree of confidence.
The Image Whisperer tool also identifies images of faces that are 99 percent AI-generated, characterized by blurriness, motion blur, and inconsistent lighting.
Analysis using the Hive Moderation tool also showed that 99.9 percent of the content was generated by an AI model.
Video 2
A manual analysis of the second video also revealed several anomalies characteristic of AI-generated content. First, at the 2-second mark, the heads and hands of several passengers appear to be missing.
A scan using Was It AI identifies AI elements in the image with a high confidence level.
The Zhuque AI Detection Assistant tool determined that the content was generated by AI with 99.16 percent certainty.
The results of the Hive Moderation scan also indicate an 80 percent likelihood that the video was created using AI technology. AI elements were found in most of the clips.
CONCLUSION
Tempo Verification concludes that the narrative claiming that two circulating videos show an Iranian missile strike on Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport is in fact misleading.
Iran has indeed stated that it launched missiles at the airport, although there is no confirmed information regarding the impact on the airport. Furthermore, both videos were created using AI-generated imagery.
